The Terrans are originally descendants of a colonial expansion project launched by Earth hundreds of years ago. Those original ancestors are famed as being dissidents, malcontents, genetically modified mutants and criminals - all the people the establishment could spare for an expedition with little hope of returning home. Those that did survive founded three colonies that became the foundations for major power struggles in Terran controlled space. The strongest of these: The Confederacy, The Kel-Morian Combine and the Umojan Protectorate. Empire's rise and fall, and Earth's children in the 2500's are no different.
Eventually the corrupt Confederacy was overthrown by the revolutionary Terrorist Arcturus Mengsk but now, from the ruins of the former Confederacy - the Terran Dominion has emerged as the nothing less than the dominant power, under the rule of Emporer Arcturus I.
As the 'Great Survivors', the Terrans used instinct and brute toughness to survive on mostly lifeless worlds living in sometimes very harsh existences. The Terrans may appear somewhat disadvantaged on the battle field as they have neither the advanced technology of the Protoss forces or the natural prowess of the Zerg to rely on. The Terran military is wide and of varied complexity levels. From the basic infantry such as the marines to almost excessively armed battle cruisers. The Terran forces rely on a solid armour, lots of firepower and strength in numbers in order to survive. Able to dig in deep. The Terrans excel in defensive situations when their Siege Tanks and Bunkers are brought into use.
